Tips for a business card people keep

  • Keep it simple. Name, title, phone, email and website are usually enough. Leave out anything you do not want people to use.
  • Make the phone number easy to read. It is the most-used detail, so give it clear contrast and a comfortable size.
  • Use two colors well. A strong brand color plus one accent looks more professional than many colors.
  • Use the back. Your logo, a short tagline and a QR code to your website or booking page are an easy upgrade.
  • Check the proof. Read every number and email address out loud before you print.

Front and back

The front holds your contact details. The back is for branding, so people remember who you are: your logo, a one-line tagline and an optional QR code. Add a QR code that links to your website, or make a separate one with ourfree QR code generator. If you also collect reviews, ourGoogle review card maker makes a matching card.

Frequently asked questions

What size is a standard business card?

In the United States a standard business card is 3.5 by 2 inches. This tool builds your PDF at 3.75 by 2.25 inches, which adds a 0.125 inch bleed on every side so a professional printer can trim the card cleanly.

What is bleed, and why does it matter?

Bleed is background color or artwork that extends past the cut line. Cutting is never perfectly exact, so without bleed you can end up with thin white edges. Keep important text inside the safe margin (0.125 inches inside the trim) so it is not cut off.

Is the PDF good enough for professional printing?

Yes. Text, shapes and the QR code are drawn as vector artwork at the exact page size, and your logo is embedded at up to 1200 pixels on its longest side. For the sharpest result, upload a logo that is at least 600 pixels wide.

Which fonts does the PDF use?

The PDF uses the standard Helvetica and Times typefaces, which every printer supports. What you see in the preview matches what prints. If you want custom fonts or a fully custom layout, our design team can build one for you.

Can I put a QR code on my business card?

Yes. Turn on the QR code option and it will link to the website you entered, printed on the back. Always scan a printed proof before ordering a large batch. For a code you can change after printing, ask about managed QR codes.

Is my information uploaded or saved?

No. Everything you type and any logo you choose stay in your browser while the card is built. Nothing is stored on our servers, and nothing is saved after you leave the page.

Can I use my own logo or only the templates?

You can upload your own logo in PNG, JPG, WebP or SVG format. If you do not have one yet, the card shows your business initials in a clean badge instead.
